It's always been a life-long dream of mine to write a book, especially one that could help and serve others. I started journaling from a very young age and have actively kept up with it to this day. I have been passionate about writing for as long as I can remember, although I was never quite sure if my hobby would turn into something tangible that I could share on a large scale... or even what topic exactly would inspire me to tackle the daunting feat.

I found my topic and motivation after giving birth to my son, George. I found myself completely inspired and rocked to the core by motherhood. I felt like there were so many things that no one told me or were willing to share about what postpartum life actually looked like. I also felt like all of the books on the market were focused on parenting, but not on motherhood. Why wasn't anyone talking about what the mother endures the first few years after giving birth?
Then, I began exploring my own truth and feeling the need to share it with other moms... I started thinking about the questions I had after giving birth and the answers I would have liked to receive... What is breastfeeding really like? What about postpartum sex? What's that going to look like? How am I going to make new mom friends? How am I supposed to handle the lack of sleep? Is burnout normal? How am I supposed to feel about this new post-baby body?

I started recording my feelings and stories, not only in my journals but also in Notes on my iPhone. I started making word documents on my computer. I started to think about what moms really need. Not only do they need to know certain truths about motherhood, but more importantly, what they need is support. They need to be able to explore their feelings and to learn how to overcome certain challenges and mental roadblocks... This is where I found my writing grove. I started putting together journal prompts and fun exercises new moms could do to make their motherhood experience more powerful: to help them feel less alone, to help them make the friends they needed, to help them find a way back to themselves... and to help them navigate their newfound identity.

I also knew that no new mom wants to read a text book to get this sort of information, nor do they have a lot of extra time... so, I integrated my own personal anecdotes with useful, uplifting, and actionable exercises new moms could do to make their lives better...easier...more fulfilling. The New Mom Code: Shatter Expectations and Crush It at Motherhood is my gift to new moms everywhere. You're amazing. You're super human. I hope this book gives you what you need to take control of your destiny and empowers you to become whomever it is that you so desire!
